My Health Insurance Advisor

Are you:

Whatever the case, MyHealthInsuranceAdvisor.org has you covered with the support and information you need to be well informed in making your decision.

Choosing a Health Care Plan is one of the most important decisions any of us will make.  The consequences can affect our lives for years to come.  Making a hasty decision or buying based upon faulty assumptions can prove far more costly than the time you take to become a well informed consumer.  You can’t put a price on good health, but you can buy good “value” protection for your health care.

This site is consumer-centric and contains no associations or links to health-care-coverage providers or health-Insurance-companies. You won't be able to click here to get a quote or diverted to a sales site link!  We simply want to provide you with well researched unbiased information so you are in a better position to make a sound decision.

Select the Consumers tab at the top of this page and you will be taken directly to your choice of Pathways to gain immediate access to our extensive research.  We assume no two people have the same questions or enjoy learning the same way so we have provided multiple ways to make your experience on this site worthwhile. Note two important features of the site:

  1. You can move the cursor over any term marked in bold orange, such as the ones above, and our copyrighted health-care-coverage and insurance-term MyHIA.org Glossary © MyHIA.org 2008 function will provide you with the definition in a window that floats over the page. Use the Glossary button, under the Main Menu section located on the left side of the page, to look up any term as you wish.
  2. You can use the Search button, under the Main Menu section to find any and all information related to whatever topic you request.

Take a moment to Register  You will be able to access our data base of registered and certified Broker/agents to verify their credentials and 'good standing' status with MyHIA.org .

With our busy lifestyles, it may seem easier to just ask a friend or go to the Internet and "point and click", but health care plans are not a commodity and all Health Care Coverage and Health Insurance plans are not the same.  It is in your best interest to be an informed consumer

If you are returning to this site, log on so you can return to where you left off the last time you visited us (lower left of this page).

If you would like information on a specific health-care-plan, company, or would like to speak directly to a Licensed Certified Field Broker/Agent ( Click Here) to get a quote on a plan designed to meet your life situation and financial considerations.

Independent health-care-coverage and-insurance  Brokers and agents are welcomed as well. Select the “Brokers/Agents” tab at the top of the page to learn how you can more effectively serve your clients and differentiate yourself from the rest or the pack through our support and certification programs. The Certified Broker/Agent program takes agents far beyond the basics of obtaining a state license and enrolling with a company to sell their products.  Few health care providers or insurance companies require evidence of familiarity with their products or competency in presenting health care plans.

While MyHealthInsuranceAdvisor.org began as a collaborative effort among concerned consumers, health care professionals, professional broker/agents, and various other agencies to assist the consumer, we hope that this site serves to re-engage field agents as an integral and important part of the sales process to the benefit of the consumer as well.  The trend is to diminish the classic and legal role of agent to suit an impersonal Internet driven model designed to maximize sales volume - but this shortchanges the consumer!

We found that only 10% of the people who purchase a health-care-plan by telephone or Internet actually understood the coverage they purchased.  What is more alarming is that of 90% who were uncertain about what their health-care-plan covers are likely to find out once it is too late - when they have to use itNot knowing what a health-care-plan covers can have hidden financial and quality of care implications!

An insurance license doesn't mean the broker/agent actually has the training to effectively answer your questions or advise you.  Some TV, telesales and Internet sales operations selling "Health Plans" are not licensed at all.  MyHIA.org aims to re-engage and certify those who are concerned career professionals.  After all, both consumers and professional agents benefit for having access to the same information.

By opening this site to interested brokers/agents we hope to reverse the trend of brokers/agents merely processing leads provided by websites.   Many have been lulled into the trap that they can save time by not engaging the customer because they can direct the prospect to a website.  They have been lead to believe they can still earn a commission while doing far less work.  Is that really a professional attitude?  Those enrolled in our program have committed to the MyHIA Pledge placing the best interests of the consumer as their foremost priority!

And much more…

There is no charge or hidden agenda behind this site.  There is no commercial association with any health care coverage provider, health insurance carrier, or health care plan marketing agency.  The MyHealthInsuranceAdvisor.org website exists solely to guide you through the marketing hype and jargon so you are an informed and empowered consumer.

We welcome you and hope you find our site easy to use so you can feel comfortable making your health care plan choice.  Please give us your thoughts on your MyHIA.org website experience.  It is through the contributions of consumers and concerned professionals that this site has developed rapidly and now contains so much vital information.  However, we don't consider the task complete.  We want to make the information as easy to access and understand as possible and we know that the health insurance market is constantly evolving.

Please select the Your Comments tab located at the bottom of any page to add your suggestions and ideas so we may continue to improve.  For further information on the not-for-profit Consumer Health Insurance Advocacy Group organization and the MyHIA.org site click on the About Us tab.
